Biography

In May of 2003, almost 4 years ago, on a total 'whim' I decided I was going to open an online scrapbooking company. I was the standard scrapbook supply HORDER! My friends and/or sisters and I would make our weekly stop at the LSS and spend close to $200 on 'CUTE STUFF WE HAD TO HAVE' and I got sick of it! Let's admit it, scrapbooking is one expensive habit. Especially if you buy more then you scrap! So I started with Bazzill, they are here in Arizona and it's blown up from there! For the first 6 months to a year I literally had 6 shelves of product. Now it is my entire 3 car garage holding over 6000 different products. My DH enclosed it, carpeted, painted, put up slat wall and aisles...it looks like its own little store, but CRAMMED FULL! He bought me land to build me a store, but for now, this is what I want. Eventhough I may work from 7-7, at least I am home! I have more product then the smaller stores here in Mesa...I just don't have to make the store 'pretty' for customers so I can cram alot more in!
My original goal, which I still live by is this.... "Offer quality, trendy scrapbooking products at a discount". I have friends and family that simply can't afford to scrap.....that doesn't mean they love it less then I do. Hopefully the discounts help those that want to scrap so badly, but can't afford it! I keep it as low as I can without losing money. It's expensive to own a store....shipping is OUTRAGEOUS and costs me a fortune as I ship 90% of our orders priority mail mainly because they get there in 2-3 days, instead of UPS which is 5-7. But I can continue to do this because it's not my job to pay the bills... it's my passion. My dh makes the money and I do this for fun! I haven't taken a dime out of the company since I opened it....I just buy more product if I have any leftovers after the bills!!
So anyhow, that is how I started...now its almost been 4 years and I've made the Making Memories VIP Super Star Status which only a few of their stores achieve (per my dh, it means I spend too much money there!) At the recent CHA Convention I think I spent over $35,000 (thank goodness it all ships at different times!). There are 3 conventions each year...so it adds up! But I do love it! I love attending the conventions and see my favorite reps and store owners.
About my family: We have 2 wonderful obedient sons, 19 & 17, one in college, one a jr. in high school! I have 5 younger brothers. My parents live in our neighborhood and all of my brothers live within 5 miles of us. My mom is one of my closest friends. My dad and dh are so much alike its scary! It is tradition for all 26 of us to spend Sunday nights at my parents house and the 15 grandchildren are best friends!
We are very involved in our church and in the scouting program.
My husband is a real estate investor and works from home too which is awesome! He is my support system and my strength in more ways then one! He has pushed me to make this business what it is!

Interests

Obviously I love to scrapbook and wish I made time to do it more often! I love to travel with my hubby and just 'relax'! I am very involved in our Boy Scout District working with potential Eagle Scouts which is SO fulfilling. I think my all time favorite thing to do during the week is go out to lunch....I do it more then I should, but usually need the break during the day! I love 'chic flics' but rarely get to see them as I lam the only girl in the house! I enjoy watching the Denver Broncos with my dh. We play games, especially cards at least one night a week with whomever we can round over! I spend lots of time with my extended family!
